As in Oz, there are sales all the time these days. Chalk it up to a poor economy. For discount women's clothing check out Century 21, Lohmans and look for sales in Macy's. Shoes are in DSW, wihch has several branches in the City.

For electronics, the place to go is J&R Music World downtown on Park Row near City Hall. They have expanded greatly and also sell cameras, appliances, computers and all sorts of stuff. Their prices are very low.

As J&R is right up the block from Century 21, you can look for your Bose while your wife shops for clothes. You can meet for lunch at Pita Express on Ann street for some of the best falafel in the City.
The stores are now filling with fall things and they're not on sale. But several of the major dept stores (Macy's, Lord &Taylor and Bloomingdales) offer tourists a 10% discount on most items if you register at the visitors desk before shopping.

I think Century 21 is not great for women's clothes but can be good for mens things and accessories. For mens suits it's also worth checking Nordstrom Rack on Union Square and the big DSW near there will have shoes for men and women. It's also worth checking Mens Warehouse. There's a place listed as #1 for discount mens suits here that I've never tried.

Macy's and Bloomingdales are 2 huge dept. stores with a wide variety of styles/prices. They both offer visitors an 11% discount off most things (not cosmetics) if you register at the customer service desk before you start shopping. Century 21, Loehmann's, Daffy's, Filene's, TJ Maxx are some other discount shops.

Check out Loehmann's on 7th Ave at 17th Street for discounted party dresses. They have a decent shoe and handbag department too. Great men's dept targeted to all the fashionable gay men in the neighborhood.
In Union Square, there's a big Filene's (3 floors), which in my opinion is the "best" one. Just downstairs in the same complex is DSW to satisfy a shoe-shopping bug.

For inexpensive, trendy clothing - H&M is popular. There are locations in SoHo, one across from Macy's in Herald Square and one across from Bloomingdale's.

"Two doubles" on tore küll. Aga ma olen kuulnud, et mõistlik on suurlinnades perekonnale majutust otsida üle kõikvõimalike bronnikeskkondade.Eelnimetatud vanamees aga tahab kaks tuba pähe määrida..aga üks on vaja noh...

Enne Alcatrazi minekut lase kuttidel kohustuslikus korras ära vaadata sihuke film nagu "The Rock", mis Alcatrazist tehtud. Vist aastast 2001. Nicolas Gage ja Sean Connery.
